Kathak Workshop 2018
Professional Kathak Dancer Surangama Lala is in Basel in August. This a great opportunity to learn the beautiful art of indian classical dance Kathak directly from the source.
Who is Surangama Lala Dasgupta?
- more than 30 years of experience (Teaching, Performing, Examiner)
- trained by the traditional Kathak Masters (mainly Guru Bela Arnab)
- Creator of countless choreographies and dance dramas
- Dance therapist (MSc Psychology, presenting concepts at international conferences)
- Social Activist (holder of many Indian Awards).
Kids Special: Age 6-12 yrs
Introduction course, Hand/Arm movements (Mudra und Hastak), rhythmic footwork (Tatkar)
Choreography on music piece (Tarana) depending on level.
Level: beginner, generall experience in any danceform preferred

Tri taal bols with focus on Parmelu, Paran, Chakkardar Paran, Kavit
You will learn the Bols with the Parhant und Choreografie
Level: Intermediate, min 2 yrs experience in Kathak

Workshop II: Natya
Thumri, a storytelling dance on a semi classical song
Choreography, exploring the expression and mime techniques, Music will be provided.
Level: Intermediate/Advanced, min 3 yrs experience in Kathak
